YMO’s first record is great. There's a great Akiko Yano song, there's ‘Tong Poo’ and there’s Haruomi Hosono’s song ‘Cosmic Surfin’. It just has all the hits. When working on music, particularly Oh No, and this new record it was just a huge influence. I just listened to it all the time. If I need ideas for drum patterns or synth patterns I would also come back to it. I don’t know how they managed to get some of the sounds on here at the time. I love watching their live shows from that time, they played these huge venues, but they were up there doing it all analogue. I just don’t know how they did it. It sounds incredible.
