Leaked guidance from the government suggests that nightclubs could also reopen with strict hygiene measures

UK nightclubs could reopen sometime this year with strict entry checks in place, according to leaked guidance from the government.

A report by The Times, based on leaked information obtained from the government and hospitality industry, says that although clubs are "a challenging area to operate under any form of physical-distancing requirements" they may be allowed to reopen with certain "entry checks" and other measures in place.

Amongst these measures are temperature checks and hand sanitisation upon entry, as well as socially-distanced queuing. It's not yet known however when these measures might come into place.

Ahead of this, the government is soon expected to announce new guidance around pubs, bars and restaurants, with a potential relaxing of the two-metre distancing rule potentially coming into effect when such businesses are expected to reopen on July 4.
