Fundraiser Compilation Released For Windmill Brixton
Christian Eede , May 26th, 2020 16:28

Warmduscher's Clams Baker and Fat White Family's Saul Adamczewski both contribute to the 14-track offering

A new compilation has been put together to raise money for London gig venue Windmill Brixton amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jack Medley's Secure Compilation: Songs In The Key Of K is a 14-track album inspired by the work of Jack Medley, a musician and promoter connected with the Windmill who passed away last year. It will be sold digitally via Bandcamp for £5, and includes a free downloadable booklet featuring artwork, photos and more, with all proceeds going towards the Windmill.

Amongst those contributing tracks to the compilation are Warmduscher's Clams Baker, Madonnatron, Fat White Family's Saul Adamczewski and Jack Medley's Secure Men.

"It's costing the Windmill almost £9k per month in rent, insurance and standing orders to keep its doors closed during the pandemic, plus staff wages on top," says a press release. "The insurers are refusing to pay out for disruption of business, and outrageously, the commercial landlords are pushing for a rent increase.

"The future is more uncertain than ever but one thing we do know is that when we emerge from the current crisis, we need the the Windmill to be there for us. If Jack were here, he'd be throwing all of his considerable powers of hustle and charm behind the cause."

Jack Medley's Secure Compilation: Songs In The Key Of K is out now. You can purchase it here.
