Jessy Lanza Announces New LP, ‘All The Time’

Hyperdub will release the Canadian artist's third album this July

Jessy Lanza has shared full details of her new album.

Titled All The Time, the Canadian artist’s third album is preceded by new track ‘Face’, which you can watch a video for above. Lanza also previously shared ‘Lick In Heaven’ from the album last month.

The inspiration for ‘Face’, Lanza says, came from watching people’s faces on the New York subway. "I was fantasising about what everyone was thinking based on their expressions," she says. "I found myself projecting my own feelings onto the strangers I was looking at. I went home and wrote the lyrics imagining that the commuters were having telepathic conversations with each other."

The video, meanwhile, was put together after Lanza’s EU tour ended abruptly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing her to return to her base of New York. "Our apartment lease was up and we couldn’t rent another place because of quarantine restrictions," she says. "We packed what we could into my van and drove to San Francisco to stay with family. We really wanted to make a video for ‘Face’ so we used our immediate surroundings and a couple of lights [director] Winston [Case] managed to fit in the van."

The 10-track All The Time was co-written with frequent collaborator Jeremy Greenspan from Junior Boys, and follows on from Lanza’s last LP, 2016’s Oh No.

Hyperdub will release All The Time on July 24, 2020.
