Last month, Tim Burgess announced new album I Love The New Sky alongside the sharing of a track called ‘Empathy For The Devil’.
Now he’s unveiled another track and video, this time for album track ‘The Mall’. You can watch the video above exclusively via tQ.
"The mall is like a state of mind – everything and nothing is there," Tim Burgess says of the track’s inspiration. "It induces a kind of torpor. Even the process of going between floors is assisted by moving staircases.
"Shop windows are hypnotic but you don’t have to take part in anything. Malls are a great leveller – class and status disappear. They are like a waking dream, an altered state. A kind of limbo. Plus they are handy if you need new shoes or a doughnut."
The 12-track I Love The New Sky sees Burgess switching up his usual writing process and penning everything himself. Grumbling Fur’s Daniel O’Sullivan does however feature on the record, having assisted on arrangement and production across the album, as well as playing bass, drums and piano.
Bella Union will release I Love The New Sky on May 22.
