2019 has been another hectic and strange year for The Quietus, with our ability to celebrate new music hampered by ongoing struggles with social media eating all the ad revenue. Many of you have donated to keep us going, and for that we thank you. We’re also now announcing our Christmas party fundraising do, which takes place on 4th December (yes that’s next week) at The Social in London. We’ve put together a ridiculous one-off supergroup for the event called… drum roll… Sly and The 77 Snapped HARRGA Teeth Of The UKAEA!
Featuring…
Austin (Snapped Ankles)
Russell (Snapped Ankles)
Dali de St Paul (HARRGA)
Matt Cargill (Sly And The Family Drone)
Mike Bourne (Teeth Of The Sea)
Sam Barton (Teeth Of The Sea)
James Allsopp (Nostalgia 77)
Dan Jones (UKAEA)
…who are forming an apocalyptic party supergroup playing techno Christmas carols* in an attempt to either save The Quietus during its winter break or make it detonate via an explosion of four-to-the-floor sync’d modular synths, electronic gizmos, woodwind, brass and vocals.
(*Music may not actually sound like Christmas carols or even remotely festive on the night.)
Tickets are only a tenner in advance from here [link] (or £12 on the door), and there’s much more stuff TBA. And that’s not all. As well as the supergroup detailed above, we’ll also be welcoming the Karl ‘Regis’ O’Connor who’ll be playing the wrongest selections from his record box throughout the night. You can buy tickets via DICE here.
Over the course of 2019, The Quietus Social has been lucky enough to welcome a host of stellar special guests such as Stephen Morris, Stewart Lee, Vivien Goldman, Stephen Mallinder and Alexander Tucker – keep your eyes peeled for more special events through 2020.
