Singer Kim Peers links up with guitarist Mathieu Vandekerckhove on the dark wave-inflected project

Skemer is the new project of singer and model Kim Peers and guitarist Mathieu Vandekerckhove, who is part of post-metal band Amenra.

Later this month, they’ll release their debut album, Benevolence, which sees them stretch out their dark wave-influenced sound across eight tracks. Premiering above is a video for the album’s lead track, ‘Sunseeker’, which offers a good entry point for the duo’s sound.

The pair set about recording the album mere months after meeting and forming Skemer, taking their name from the more literal english meaning of ‘intriguer’ as well as the word for ‘dusk’ in Vandekerckhove’s native language, West-Flemish.

Avant! Records will release Benevolence on October 25 and the duo will play an album release show at the De Kreun concert hall in Kortrijk, Belgium that same day.
