John Squire has confirmed the split that many had already suspected

The Stone Roses are no longer formally together, according to guitarist John Squire.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Squire was asked, "Is that really it for the Roses?" He replied with a simple "Yeah". He also reveals in the interview that he and frontman Ian Brown had made a pact never to discuss internal issues within the band with the press when they reformed.

The Stone Roses reunited in 2011 and played a series of shows over the successive years. They also released two new tracks, 'All for One' and 'Beautiful Thing'. A long-rumoured third album from the band never materialised.

The band's final show happened in Glasgow in 2017, during which Ian Brown set off rumours that it might be their last by telling fans, "Don’t be sad it's over, be happy that it happened".
