Tottenham venue The Cause is to close in January 2020.
The club opened in April 2018 with a focus on putting on parties to raise money for mental health charities such as Mind and CALM. The venue says it has raised over £50,000 for those charities, and other multiple charities beyond those partners, since then.
In announcing its closure, the club has said that the closure in Tottenham marks only the end of The Cause’s "first chapter". It’s not known where or how it might continue. The club was initially supposed to close in April of this year having opened on a one-year lease, but saw that extended to January 2020.
It’s thought that the closing party will take place on New Year’s Eve. It’s not yet known whether in-house online radio station Threads Radio will continue to broadcast from elsewhere.
