BBC Radio 3’s Unclassified programme becomes flesh this autumn and next year with a series of concerts at London’s Southbank Centre. Curated by presenter Elizabeth Alker and André De Ridder, the events will see the likes of Daniel Avery, Anna Meredith, Tim Hecker and Darkstar joined by the BBC Concert Orchestra, who’ll be conducted by De Ridder.
Elizabeth Alker spoke about her hopes for the Unclassified Live programme, "Being able to programme this series of live shows with Andre and see Unclassified come to life in front of an audience, with an orchestra, at the Southbank is a dream come true. It’s such a brilliant opportunity to showcase this music in this unique and special way."
The first Unclassified Live concert takes place on 29th September 2019 and features Anna Meredith’s 4 Tributes to 4am for chamber orchestra & electronics, Nicole Lizee and Darkstar, with visuals by Ewan Jones Morris. The remainder of the events, featuring Tim Hecker, Rafiq Bhatia, Caroline Shaw, Daniel Elms and more, take place in 2020. For more information, visit the Southbank Centre website.
