WATCH: Ian William Craig Remixes Resina
Christian Eede , July 17th, 2019 16:11

The animated video has been put together by Karolina Rec's husband

Warsaw-based cellist Resina, AKA Karolina Rec, followed up the release of her 2018 album, Traces, recently with a remixes EP featuring reworkings of tracks from that album by Ben Frost, Ian William Craig, Lotic and Abul Mogard.

Now, she's enlisted her husband, the animator Mateusz Jarmulski, to produce a video for Ian William Craig's remix of her track 'In'. You can watch it above.

"When I heard Ian's remix of 'In' I thought it would be a perfect match for the idea of a film which was in my head for a while - I treat it more like a film than a video clip," says Jarmulski. "It's kind of a collection of my memories from the house where I was born. An elegy for the world that already vanished but it's alive in my fading memories.

"In the video, you can spot some polaroids taken by my uncle. He'd fled to Canada during World War II and when communism collapsed in Poland he visited us after almost 50 years. Technically, the whole video was done in 'frame by frame”'animation, and was visually highly influenced by Jonas Mekas' works."

Traces - Remixes is out now via FatCat sub-label 130701. You can listen to and purchase it here.
