Alexander Tucker To Release New Album
The Quietus , June 20th, 2019 15:21

He will follow the album's release in August with an appearance at The Quietus Social in September

Alexander Tucker has announced details of his new album, titled Guild of the Asbestos Weaver.

Set for release through Thrill Jockey, the album follows on from last year's Don't Look Away. "I wanted to approach the album as a collection of short stories, inspired by my love of writers like Philip K. Dick, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury and Alan Moore", Tucker says.

The album title, taken from Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, refers to the underground opposition of the dystopian novel’s totalitarian government ideology. Tucker cites 'Dreamweapon', a term coined by Angus MacLise as a key touchstone; reading it as the idea that dreams and alternate forms of perception can be used as a personal fight against the status quo of society, thought and human order.

Following the album's release, Tucker will guest at London venue The Social for an edition of The Quietus Social. As well as playing live, he will be selecting the choice of album playback - one of his all-time favourites which is yet to be announced. For more details, head here. Tickets will be on sale soon.

Thrill Jockey will release Guild of the Asbestos Weaver on August 23.
