Sleater-Kinney Announce New Album

'The Center Won't Hold' is produced by St. Vincent

Sleater-Kinney have confirmed details of a new album titled The Center Won’t Hold.

The album’s announcement follows on from the unveiling of new track ‘Hurry On Home’ late last month. St. Vincent has taken on production duties for the full record, and you can hear another new track – ‘The Future Is Here’ – above.

"We’re always mixing the personal and the political but on this record, despite obviously thinking so much about politics, we were really thinking about the person – ourselves or versions of ourselves or iterations of depression or loneliness – in the middle of the chaos, says the band’s Carrie Brownstein.

Drummer Janet Weiss adds: "I think for Carrie and Corin it was liberating to explore a different sound palette. Annie (St. Vincent) has a lot of experience building her own music with keyboards and synthesisers so she could be our guide to help us make sense of this new landscape and still sound like us."

The band will tour Europe next year, taking in a date at London’s O2 Brixton Academy in February. Find their full list of tour dates here.

The Center Won’t Hold is out on August 16 and can be pre-ordered here.
