Unreleased Bowie Demos To Be Auctioned

Reel-to-reel tape featuring three unreleased recordings by David Bowie due to be auctioned later this month

An auction house will later this month offer somebody the chance of getting their hands on a reel-to-reel tape featuring three previously unreleased David Bowie songs.

As The Guardian reports, the tape will be auctioned off on May 21 and is expected to fetch more than £10,000. The sale will take place at Omega Auctions in the town of Netwon-le-Willows, and is the latest in a string of Bowie-related sales to happen at the auction house.

The tape features four tracks in total which were all recorded between 1966 and 1967 for inclusion on Bowie's debut album, and all predate the 'Space Oddity' era that would see Bowie rise to fame. They all, however, ultimately failed to make the cut. One track titled 'Did You Ever Have a Dream' did eventually see release though on the 1981 compilation Another Face.

A number of other demos from the early stage of Bowie's career were recently released as part of a box set of 7" records called Spying Through A Keyhole.
