FKA twigs has released a new single titled ‘Cellophane’. You can watch a video for the track above.
‘Cellophane’ is the first new music to emerge from twigs in over three years and comes five years on from debut album LP1. The track is the first taste of an as-yet untitled second album due later this year.
"Throughout my life I’ve practiced my way to being the best I could be, it didn’t work this time," she says of the process of working on her second album. "I had to tear down every process I’d ever relied on. Go deeper. Rebuild. Start again."
The video, which is directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, sees twigs taking up a role that she had trained for months for. "When I wrote ‘Cellophane’ over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did," she explains.
She’s confirmed a number of festival shows for this summer including an appearance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound on May 30. She will play in London on May 28 – full venue and ticket details are still TBA.
