SoundCloud Introduces Distribution Function
Christian Eede , February 19th, 2019 17:08

SoundCloud Pro users can now distribute their uploads to Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming platforms

Under new measures introduced today by SoundCloud, users signed up to a Pro or Pro Unlimited account will now be able to distribute their music to other streaming platforms aside from SoundCloud.

These platforms include Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and more, and the new measures comes in line with SoundCloud's move with their Premier programme to allow users to monetise their own music without requiring the help of third-party distribution services.

Users will be able to "keep 100% of their rights, keep 100% of their distribution royalties from third-party services, and pay no distribution fees," according to the company's announcement. The new system is currently available as a public beta.

Other requirements to give users eligibility of distributing their own music, aside from having a Pro or Pro Unlimited account, include that they own all the rights to the music, have no previous copyright strikes and receive at least 1,000 plays a month in areas where SoundCloud subscriptions are available.
