Spratley Japs For Show At London’s The Garage

Cardiacs' Tim Smith and vocalist Jo Spratley's band the Spratleys Japs will end the year with a London show tomorrow night

Spratleys Japs, the band of Cardiacs’ Tim Smith and vocalist Jo Spratley, will bring to a close a series of live performances across this year tomorrow (December 21) with their biggest headlining show to date, at Highbury Corner’s The Garage.

The band, featuring members of ClowWns, Electric Soft Parade, and Muddy Suzuki, alongside original vocalist, Jo Spratley, will be joined by ex-Cardiacs, Levitation and Dark Star Bic Hayes’ Kosmiche-influenced outfit Zofff and Kavus Torabi’s Knifeworld on support. The evening will conclude with a special set of Cardiacs’ songs played by an all-star band, in celebration of Smith’s recent honorary doctorate of music.

Amongst the treats in store for fans of Smith’s music, will be a special rendition of Cardiacs’ opus ‘Dirty Boy’, with a special arrangement for Knifeworld’s horn section. A special edition single, the first new material from the band, will be available on the night. For more information and tickets, head here.

Vocalist, Jo Spratley, said:

"This new song, ‘Hands’, is one side of the first new things we’ve done," says Jo Spratley of the single available at the gig. "Etienne Rodes wrote it first with his guitar, Spratleys Japs breathed air into it, as Dr Tim Smith listened on and told us what’s what as Executive Musical Director. There will be a brand new EP in the new year and we will be touring a new album."
