Patti Smith - Horses

She’s one of my idols. I love Patti Smith for so many reasons, and not just because she has one of the greatest Instagrams I’ve ever seen. She takes such care, even in her Instagram posts she sets the bar so high! I feel like she’s transforming even that medium, in real time! I can’t get over how lucky we are to be living alongside her and to have this entry point into her day to day world and her memories with all these old pictures. Horses is on a lot of people’s lists of favourite records, but it’s so good. I love the balance in the record of power and softness. She’s able to go from a sensual, delicate lyrical delivery to full on punk rock and roll assault. The melodies are incredible, the lyrics are incredible - I think it’s a perfect album and I still get excited by it. She’s still killing it, she’s such a good role model for women, and men.
