New Joy Division Book To Be Published

A new book by Jon Savage will present an oral history of Joy Division

Faber & Faber will next year publish a book focusing on the oral history of Joy Division.

Titled This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History the book has been written by Jon Savage who has previously written extensively on the history of punk music and the Sex Pistols.

The book collects three decades worth of interview with a number of figures involved in the history of the group including its members. Amongst those whose words are included are Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Deborah Curtis and Peter Saville.

"It is a classic story of how young people armed with electric guitars and good taste in literature can change the world with four chords and three-and-a-half minutes of music," reads the press release accompanying the announcement of the book.

This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History will be published in the UK on March 7
