Two cracking new tracks now streaming on tQ

The Quietus first saw Toy on our stage at Field Day many moons ago, and were fast converts to their early run of singles 'Left Myself Behind', 'Motoring', 'Dead & Gone' et al. One of the finest live groups of the time too, they're now back and sounding incredibly refreshed on a new double a-side 12" release via the excellent Tough Love records. 'The Willo' is an season-appropriate lo-fi psychedelic meander, all clopping rhythms and guitars that eddy like flickers of marsh gas igniting on an eery night. Says Toy's Tom Dougall of the track, "people appear to have seen Will-o’-the-wisp, a mysterious green-blue light, over the centuries. It generally means something ominous is about to happen." It's backed with the aptly-titled 'Energy', muttered lyrics of a nocturnal ritual over anxious speedy guitar that sees the group back to their imperious best. The 12" will be arriving in shops tomorrow, Friday September 14th, limited to 500 copies. 200 transparent vinyl copies will also available directly via Tough Love, you can get your hands on those here. There's also a date for your diaries - Toy will be playing a free gig at the Shacklewell Arms on 28th September 2018.
