With her ninth full-length album set for release at the beginning of next month, Neko Case takes Emma Madden on a trip from The Cramps to Joanna Newsom, as she calls at 13 ports of strangeness for her Baker's Dozen.

Suede - Suede
Ah, Suede. There's just something about this record I am so crazy about. I think he's [Brett Anderson] such a good singer and there were a lot of things going on in Britpop at the time but Suede were so much more serious. Or, they were much darker than the other things going on. It still had these beautiful soaring vocals, plus Bernard Butler is an amazing guitar player. I don't often love guitar players but sometimes they're so great you go, OK that's what that is! It's about the instrument AND you.
