Face Recordings - The Face Of The Future
This album represents a label called Face Recordings, an early to mid-1990s hardcore-cum-jungle label, and it symbolises a particular strain of hardcore and jungle. It was a compilation with a bunch of classic artists like Wax Doctor, Logical Progression, and Johnny Jungle along with new strains that people tried to call ‘intelligent jungle’. Even two years after, some of the tracks were being referred to as ‘old school’, because that’s how quickly the music changed back then.

This album is still a big influence on me, especially on the East Man sound – always looking around with an eye to the future – and on my Basic Rhythm stuff as well. It represents the rapid progression of the scene at the time. I still listen to it and think most of the stuff on it sounds like the future!
