Liverpool Music Week is arguably the most significant mass-appeal event in the city's musical calendar.

Every Autumn the city's venues open their doors to some of the world's best musicians, as well as a selection of Merseyside's finest artists.

This year's blockbuster booking is Chic and Nile Rodgers, who play the Echo Arena for the festival's opening night on October 26.

It's the first time the legendary group have played in the city since 1979, and marks the fifteenth anniversary of Liverpool Music Week.

Meanwhile, the closing party taking place across a variety of rooms within the Liverpool Guild Of Students on November 4 will feature Perfume Genius, AJ Tracey, Zola Jesus, Shogun and The Orielles.

Across the city, well over a dozen gigs will be hosted as part of the festivities. Among the hoghlights are Princess Nokia, Gaika and Moor Mother's show at the Invisible Wind Factory on November 3, Blanck Mass' gig at 24 Kitchen Street on Halloween, and Kero Kero Bonito on October 28.

Meanwhile, Bella Union will host a 20 Year Anniversary party on October 30 at Leaf, and the Abstract Orchestra will play Madvillainy on October 29.

Liverpool bands including here GIT Award winners She Drew The Gun, tQ favourites SPQR, Pink Kink and Queen Zee and the Sasstones will also appear.
