The Butthole Surfers - Hairway To Steven
It's difficult picking a single album for the Butthole Surfers, it really is, but I've got Hairway To Steven written down as it's just so weird - the strummed basslines and the clean guitars and just the complete weirdness. They were probably the first of the absurd bands that really meant anything to me, I wasn't interested in anything like Zappa or things like that, but everything the Surfers did would turn my head. All of their records, Locust Abortion Technician, Psychic Powerless, they were all fantastic. I managed to see them live at the Reading Festival in 1989 and I was sold.
