Original Ghost In The Shell Soundtrack Gets Vinyl Release

Kenji Kawai's original score for the 1995 film is to be pressed to vinyl for the first time

Kenji Kawai’s original score for 1995 animated film Ghost In The Shell is to be released on vinyl for the first time.

Following on from the recent reissue of the much sought after Through The Looking Glass by Midori Takada, We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records’ pressing of Kawai’s score to the film directed by Mamoru Oshii will also come in a limited edition collector’s release with a bonus 7" and extras including 24-page liner notes.

"For its iconic main theme ‘Making of Cyborg’, Kawai had a choir chant a wedding song in ancient Japanese following Bulgarian folk harmonies, setting the standard for a timeless and unparalleled soundtrack that admirably echoes the film’s musings on the nature of humanity in a technologically advanced world," says a press release from WRWTFWWR. The release is due in June.
