Photographer Tom Sheehan collects 200 photos of the band in new book

A book featuring a collection of Manic Street Preachers photos, some rare or unseen, will be published this June.

The book, called You Love Us: Manic Street Preachers In Photographs 1991-2001, is the latest in photographer Tom Sheehan's series of books looking at the artists he has captured with his camera over decades of photography. It will feature a foreword by Nicky Wire of the band, as well as essays by music journalist Silvia Patterson.

This will all sit alongside 200 photos of the band, some classic shots and others unseen before now, with the book set to be available from June 30 via Flood Gallery Publishing. The book covers pictures of the band from their early years starting in 1991 when Sheehan met them for their first feature with Melody Maker and shot the cover for their debut album, Generation Terrorists.

He covered their further work extensively through the 1990s and into the turn of the millennium, with the final shots in the book captured in 2001 at the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, Cuba where the band played a gig.

"The Manics arrived fully formed, with a mission, older than their years and more knowledgeable than most," says Sheehan of the band. "Who does a double album as their first release!"
