Ian William Craig, Einstürzende Neubauten and more to play the Austrian festival

Full details of this year's Donaufestival in Krems, Austria have now been announced, with the festival set to span across two weekends.

The opening weekend will see the likes of Einstürzende Neubauten, Ian William Craig, The Body, Elysia Crampton, GAS, DJ LAG, Moor Mother, The Julius Eastman Memorial Dinner by Jace Clayton, Palmistry, Horse Lords and Ulver all playing. That will take place from April 28 - May 1.

The second weekend will see sets from Actress, Deafheaven, Klara Lewis, This Is Not This Heat, Stian Westerhus, Ben Frost, Equiknoxx, Girl Band, Silver Apples and Pharmakon. That runs from May 5-6. In addition to the music lineup there will also be art and installations on display.

A statement from artistic director Thomas Edlinger about the festival says: "Maybe Donaufestival is a conversion program of the imaginary. Or a ritual. Or a virus. Maybe it dreams of electric sheep, hanging freestyle from the cliff face, hoping for WE-NGOs instead of ME-INCs. Maybe the future is already here, and we just don’t see it. As the new artistic director of Donaufestival from 2017, I’d like to see the relationships between idiosyncrasy and social engagement oscillate. The familiar programme points music, performance, and visual arts intermingle through leitmotifs, expanded and enhanced by new presentation and communication formats."

The full programme breakdown will be online from March 9, and you can find out more information and get tickets here.
