Original Can Members Reunite

Three original members of the band will play together next year

Three original members of Can will reunite for a 50th anniversary show at The Barbican Hall in April.

They will perform as The Can Project and will be led by founding member Irmin Schmidt as well as original vocalist Malcolm Mooney and original drummer Jaki Liebezeit. They will be joined by guests with Thurston Moore, Steve Shelley and The London Symphony Orchestra already confirmed to take part in the show.

The first part of the show will see Schmidt and The London Symphony Orchestra reinterpret original Can material, bringing together excerpts from some of Can’s best-loved songs. There will be an interval screening of the group’s 1972 performance at Cologne Sporthalle following that, before the show is rounded off by the three original members, and guests such as Shelley and Moore, performing together. It takes place on April 8.
