Singer and rapper dropped from bill after making racist and homophobic remarks

Azealia Banks has been removed from the line-up of next month’s Rinse | Born & Bred Festival after a series of racist and homophobic tweets aimed at Zayn Malik.

After increasing calls upon the festival's organisers to remove Banks, who was due to headline the festival's second day, from the bill, they have now responded with a statement saying: "We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks' appearance at Rinse | Born & Bred Festival. Rinse | Born & Bred is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE. We celebrate inclusivity and equality."

Her name has now been removed from the festival's website and replaced by a blank space. Banks' tirade against Malik came after she had accused him of plagiarising elements of her 'Chasing Time' video for the video accompanying his single, rather ironically titled 'Like I Would'.
