John Barry – Somewhere In Time (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
For some reason, we had this on VHS at home and then we had the soundtrack, and I learned how to play all the piano music by ear as a little kid. I can still play it, too. Once again, a very sad movie and the soundtrack is very, very beautiful. Is there a theme emerging here? Whaddaya know – my favourite movie and music combination is still after all these years 'very pretty and very sad'. That's just how it goes. I would weep every time I saw Somewhere In Time and it was largely to do with John Barry's beautiful score. That said, I've not seen it in about ten years. It's cheesy early '80s stuff but the music is still so good.
