LISTEN: New PJ Harvey

PJ Harvey returns with the first taste of her forthcoming album; listen below

PJ Harvey has shared the first track from her forthcoming new album in the form of ‘The Wheel’. You can listen to it below right now.

The track is the first taste of her forthcoming new album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, her first studio album since 2011’s Let England Shake. The album is said to draw from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, spending time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period.

“When I’m writing a song I visualise the entire scene. I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture,” says Harvey. “Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with.”

The album was recorded last year in front of audiences during a residency at London’s Somerset House. It will be released on April 15.
