Apple Music Users Leaving Service

A new survey suggests Apple Music's user numbers aren't so healthy after all

Despite Apple Music releasing figures last month suggesting healthy user numbers, 11 million free trial users to be exact, a new survey conducted by Music Watch six weeks into the launch has found that 48% of subscribers have stopped using the service.

Taking information from 5,000 users aged 13 and older, 61% of users responded that they had deselected the “renewal” option during the free trial with around two-thirds of respondents saying they would pay for the service. Apple Music launched at the end of June immediately placing itself into competition with rival streaming services Spotify and Tidal, pushing its in-house radio station, Beats 1, as a main selling point. Responding to the figures, Apple told The Guardian: “Of the people that have signed up for the trial 79% are using the service.”
