Avant-pop singer MacGillivray has just this week released her new album Once Upon A Dirty Ear, and above we are giving you the chance to listen to it in full.
The Edinburgh-based musician, who has performed with the likes of Shirley Collins, Current 93 and Thurston Moore, has put out her fifth studio venture via Welsh label Hundred Acre Recordings. While her exquisite vocals have garnered comparisons to June Tabor and Patty Waters, it is MacGillivray’s muddle of instruments that gives the album its sense of being a melancholy phantasmagoria, with grand pianos, toy pianos, electric autoharp and harmonium all featuring within the album’s atmospheric soundscapes. If you like what you hear, you can pick up the album here. MacGillivray will play a number of shows in Edinburgh next month too, details of which you can check below.
