John Doran's English Trip Nears Finish Line
Alex Robert Ross , May 29th, 2015 15:40

First, 3,500 miles or so... Then 500 miles more, then another 500

Somewhere on the horizon, a finish line is gently coming into John Doran's line of vision. By the time the tQ editor makes it to Salford on Sunday night, he will have travelled over 4,500 miles zig-zagging across our fair isle on An English Trip. With a reasonable amount of rest and sleep, it would have taken around five months to walk. Look. Look at the map up there. Look at it. But he's not in Salford yet. In fact, that finish line is very much on a metaphorical horizon. Before this weekend is through, the tQ ed will bring the English Trip through Plymouth tonight, Southend tomorrow and, finally, Salford on Sunday. As ever, the wonderful Årabrot will join J-Do on stage as he reads from Jolly Lad and a cavalcade of special guests will appear in any manner of roles. In Plymouth tonight, Sly and The Family Drone and Knifedoutofexistence bring noise, in Southend tomorrow, wild man of Wivenhoe Martin Newell reads words, and in Salford for the grand finale both Gnod and the joyous Krautrock Karaoke bring the curtain down in the sweatiest possible fashion. Avail yourself of the dates below and click on the venues to get to the Facebook events:
