Oranges Are The New Black Metal

TQ editor John Doran's ill-advised nationwide jaunt lasting the whole of election month kicks off today in Brighton with a show at The Coach House in Kemptown.

An English Trip lasts for all of May and sees Doran reading from his book Jolly Lad and other pieces concerning ritual punishment, ghosts who ride the bus, black holes and mental effervescence. Musical accompaniment is provided on all dates by Kjetil Nernes - the brains and brawn behind Norwegian noise rock gods, Arabrot.

The latest addition to the line-up is Sexton Ming, who is appearing at Gecko, St Leonards on Sunday May 3. Ming is a poet, musician, artist and film maker. He has been performing for over 30 years, working with the likes of Roger McGough, Tuli Kupferberg (The Fugs) and Pete Doherty to name but a few. And in Hastings he has promised to treat us to a taste of his dark humour via spoken word and song.
