In 2012, Tahita Bulmer of NYPC discovered masses of contact sheets of her father Rowan's photographs of the big names of Swinging London: Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Elton John and more among them. Here, Rowan talks Val Siebert through ten of our favourites. Photographs courtesy of Rowan Bulmer

Paul McCartney and Chris Barber
This was taken at the Marquee studios in Wardour Street. Paul McCartney was sitting on a grand piano. It's quite an interesting combination because he's playing with Chris Barber, who is a jazz musician, the one in the striped shirt. They were recording a song for Chris Barber's record and he was there just adding a bit to that recording.

I would say Chris Barber is the actual person who introduced R&B to this country. He was a traditional jazz musician and played with Lonnie Donegan, but he had some of the first R&B people in his band, including Cyril Davies and Alexis Korner who both moved off and started their own bands, quite successfully.
