Sleaford Mods - 'Mr Jolly Fucker'
Outsider art in that you won't hear it on 6 Music, but mainstream art in that what they are saying, and they have plenty to say, will resonate with many people in this country, in these times. Unafraid, without pretension or inhibition, they spit it as they see it. I worked in a few jobs before I was employed by Failed Rock Star plc and I know that anger and frustration over jobsworths, petty bureaucrats, government initiatives and more hours for less money. Life doesn't have to be this miserable for so many people but it's what we vote for, every time. I was mesmerised by them live, stayed sober, wanted to catch it all. The music is so hypnotic and he could sing the Profanisaurus and I'd still listen.
