Rapper and producer Spoek Mathambo has joined forces with DJ Spoko, André Heldenhuys, Michael Buchanan and Bhekisenzo Cele for a new group, Fantasma. The members meld disparate sonic approaches – alongside Mathambo’s own township-tech sound, there’s Spoko’s Bacardi house and Cele’s Zulu maskandi background – making for something their label Soundway says "pulls inspiration from all corners of South Africa: the sounds and spirits of townships and cities as well as the rural countryside".
We’re excited to host a first taste of their upcoming debut EP, Eye Of The Sun out on November 3, in the shape of ‘Sefty Belt’, featuring vocals from JOSIAHWISE IS THE SERPENTWITHFEET.
