tQ scribe launching his new book Future Days with events at Rough Trade East and The Social this month and next

David Stubbs, the excellent music journalist and writer for the Quietus among many others, will be publishing his new book on Krautrock, Future Days: Krautrock And The Building Of Modern Germany, through Faber on August 7. "[A]n in-depth study of this meditative, sometimes abstract, often very beautiful music and the groups that made it, throwing light too on the social and political context that informed them," he'll be preceding its publication with a pair of events in London. First up, on July 31, he'll be in conversation with tQ editor John Doran and Jono Podmore aka Kumo, a member of analogue music collective Metamono and a collaborator with Can's Irmin Schmidt on his opera Gormenghast at Rough Trade East. The shop will have copies of the book on sale from July 28, which will come with a pair of wristbands to the event, a bundle which is also available online.

On August 4, David will be talking to tQ's associate editor Luke Turner at The Social, followed by Krautrock Karaoke, which is as excellent as its name suggests, as well as a screening of some rare Can footage. Details for that are on The Social's website, and you can pre-order the book from Faber's website here.
