Maya Deren-inspired Meshes Of Voices out in August

tQ favourite Jenny Hval and Susanna have announced the release of a collaborative LP, Meshes Of Voices, which will be out on August 18 via Susanna's SusannaSonata label. The duo started working together in 2009 after writing to each other, culminating in two live performances, with the album being a recording of the second, given at Henie Onstad Art Centre. Mixed and mastered by Helge Sten of Deathprod and Supersilent, the duo cite the cloaked figure of Maya Deren's 1943 surrealist film Meshes Of The Afternoon as an influence, also adding: "Mythical animals were a big inspiration. We looked at Medusa, Athena and Harpy – as examples of depictions of woman – the ugly, the goddess-like, the gruesome."

They'll be performing together at Oslo's Ultima Festival on September 12, and have trailed the album with 'I Have Walked This Body' - listen below:
