Band announce self-titled album and RSD reissue of Dung 4 demo through new label Cherry Red

Cherry Red Records, the London label home to The Fall and many, many others, have announced Inspiral Carpets as a new signing for 2014. With this comes the news that the band will firstly be reissuing their 1989 demo Dung 4 on vinyl and CD for Record Store Day, April 19, with the tracks on their 1987 Cow demo included on the CD/as a bonus 7" with the vinyl, followed by their first new album in 20 years, following 1994's Devil Hopping. Self-titled, it's currently got a September release scheduled, and will include the two new songs they've released over the last two years, 'You’re So Good For Me', out on the band's Cow label in 2012, and 'Fix Your Smile', a 2013 track on Tim Burgess' O Genesis label (stream that below), recorded after original vocalist Stephen Holt rejoined in 2011.

Says guitarist Graham Lambert: "Since 2011, we’ve steadied the ship and we’re sailing on. It’s been a breath of fresh air creating new songs with Stephen – his input has given us a fresh impetus. There was no sane logic why we didn’t do it a decade ago. Getting home from rehearsals and playing back a new song in the middle of the night is such a thrill. A new album seemed impossible a couple of years ago: now it’s a reality!”
