Shock - Director: Mario Bava, Soundtrack: I Libra
I Libra features an ex-member of Goblin. It’s not an obvious choice. Not everyone knows it, but they should do. It’s got those Goblin-esque tracks on there which you can recognise and say, “Yes, this is an Italian soundtrack released between 1968 and 1974” but also it’s got these weird, super psychedelic pieces in there as well. It’s hard to get on vinyl but I like that mix between the disco/prog stuff and the weird, echoing madness. I think this is why I really love those Italian films because they didn’t really have any rules. They were just doing what they wanted to do. A lot of those movies were knocked out really quickly and the composers had complete control. The film itself is good but the score is amazing.
