Chrome Hoof Set For LP Launch Shows

Band mark Chrome Black Gold's release with two London shows next week

The thoroughly ace doom-disco pioneers Chrome Hoof are back with a new album, Chrome Black Gold, out on October 8 on Cuneiform.

We've previously described their music as "Hieronymus Bosch funk/rave/metal/disco/younameit", which reflects the stormingly good trampling of genres under titular hooves you can expect at their live shows - in fact, as tQ's Luke Turner has previously asked, "Are Chrome Hoof The Best Live Band In The UK In 2009?" For a taster of the new record, have a listen to 'When The Lightning Strikes', featuring The Noisettes' Shingai Shoniwa (now, along with Carcass' Jeff Walker and Squarepusher's Alex Thomas, part of the band's 11-strong cast) on vocals:

All of this brings us nicely onto the fact that the band will be playing not one but two album launch shows at The Lexington in London next week. On Friday, October 4, they'll be supported by S&M, the "ritualistic folk, mystical blues and unearthly soundscapes" output of Sanna Charles and Mark Wagner, while Saturday 5 October will see unhinged London duo Gum Takes Tooth on the bill, followed by a DJ set by Black Cock Records co-founder Gerry Rooney going on until 4 am - head here for tickets and see the Facebook event for full details.
