Wire, Charlie Boyer, Rhys Webb and more, alongside local beer festival, at ace CBTR stage

Excellent news for the summer: Caught By The River, one of the Quietus' favourite websites, will be running a stage at the Open East Festival, a Barbican and Create-hosted event marking the re-opening of the Olympic Park as the Queen Elizabeth Park, taking place from July 27-28.

The line-up's frankly an embarrassment of riches: musically, there's Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs, Rhys Webb of The Horrors DJ, The Rockingbirds, Jeb Loy Nichols and Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou on the Saturday, followed by Wire, Stealing Sheep, Le Volume Courbe, Don Letts DJ and Viv Albertine the day after.

Beyond this, there's a whole host of interesting talks and readings: Pete Paphides will be talking to Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley about Stanley's forthcoming history of pop music Yeah Yeah Yeah, Travis Elborough will reflect on the relocating of London Bridge to Arizona, Michael Smith will read from his new book on London and Tom Bolton, author of London's Lost Rivers, will introduce us to the "capital’s submerged waterways". As well as this, Emma Warren will host Here Me Now! a panel discussion on London's pirate radio stations, there's the London Sound Survey's Ian Rawes on the sound of the city and angling writers John Andrews and Charles Rangeley-Wilson will be doing readings and looking into the area's history.

As if that wasn't enough, CBTR will also be hosting the Ten Mile Beer Festival, picking up beers from the Sambrooks Brewery (ten miles distant) and other breweries on the way to the park, proffering an ace range of local ales to avail yourself of.
