Radiohead - tkol rmx 1234567
I picked this over the original just because the remixes are brilliant. I like the idea of doing something and then reaching the point where you can't do any more with it and then just giving it to somebody else. I suppose it's partially to do with my relationship with my brother - you push something as far as you can in one direction and then realise that maybe you're not the person to carry it on, and someone else can see something in it that you can't see. I really like the record, it's a really good example of remixes being really interesting. Sometimes they're really dull, but here they've really disassembled Radiohead's work and put it back together again in a really interesting way. Jake and I have never understood why nobody has ever got a set of our prints and mangled them, and represented them. We're totally up for that kind of collaboration, we've done it with Goya, Hitler and Bosch. Appropriation is very interesting, it changes notions of ownership... though it doesn't always work. I watched the Brits the other day and One Direction were mixing The Undertones and Blondie. They fucked it up beyond all recognition. It's really funny, the bigheadedness of whoever decided to get them to do that is unbelievable. Arrogance is great, I love arrogance, but bring something to the table.
