Scottish indie pop luminaries The Pastels have announced their return with a new album, Slow Summits, set for release via Domino on May 27. The album will be their first studio LP proper since 1997's Illumination - have a watch of the album trailer here:

The band's line-up for the album has settled on long-standing members Stephen McRobbie and Katrina Mitchell (as well as a guest spot from their former keyboardist Aggi Wright), plus newer additions Tom Crossley, Gerard Love, Alison Mitchell and John Hogarty. On production duties is John McEntire of Tortoise, The Sea And Cake and myriad other projects, who recorded the album in Glasgow before mixing it in his native Chicago. Their are also appearances from Stefan Schneider and Ronald Lippok of experimental trio To Rococo Rot, Glaswegian composer Craig Armstrong and Tenniscoats, previous collaborators on the Domino LP Two Sunsets from 2009.
