Gallon Drunk - Portsmouth, August 1991
When Sounds got bought and instantly closed down in 1991, Everett True took me on at Melody Maker - my first commission was a live show by Gallon Drunk. I went reluctantly because it clashed with the Sounds wake, and I felt bad for leaving my friends to drown their sorrows but I have to say, Gallon Drunk smashed my remorse to pieces: they were, and remain, a blisteringly exciting live band… Oh shit, this isn't a live shot. Oh well.
