New Mika Vainio LP For Touch
The Quietus , July 9th, 2012 10:05

The Berlin-based Finn will release Magnetite through Touch on 3rd September

Whether as one half of the hugely innovative Pan Sonic, under his own name or in numerous collaborative projects, Mika Vainio’s contribution to the outer reaches of electronic music can’t be understated. Following on from Life (... It Eats You Up) on Editions Mego last year, the producer has announced that his next album, Magnetite, will be released through Touch - his fifth for the label.

The album was apparently recorded in Vainio’s adopted home of Berlin between 2011 and 2012, using the producer’s trademark sound palette - crisp bursts of electronic sound, poised between the abrasive and the near-clinically pure - in compositions which “oscillate between the two poles of silence and noise.” It will be released on 3rd September.
