High On Fire's Matt Pike In Rehab, Tour Cancelled
The Quietus , June 8th, 2012 03:15

The Quietus would like to wish Matt Pike of High On Fire and Sleep a speedy recuperation after it was revealed he went into rehab recently.

Despite Sleep playing a storming gig at Alexandra Palace as part of IBYM's metal day recently, Pike looked under the weather and overweight and the band missed their slot at the Primavera festival in Spain the following weekend.

Late last night High On Fire - whose De Vermis Mysteriis is their most successful to date - the band announced that it had been forced to pull out of the preposterously named Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and that touring plans had been put on hold indefinitely.

The band released the following statement: "High on Fire would like to thank everyone involved with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the opportunity to be a part of this year's tour. We regretfully will have to bow out as our friend and bandmate begins his recovery, but very much appreciate having been asked to be a part of this summer's festival run."

This blow comes just a year after the charismatic singer/guitarist developed a pain killer addiction off the back of a foot injury.
