Scottish Album Of The Year Award: Shortlist
The Quietus , May 18th, 2012 04:43

Shortlist picked from longlist of 50; includes Mogwai, Rustie, Mungo's Hi-Fi

As we previously reported, the Scottish Album of the Year is set to be announced on June 19th at the SAY Awards ceremony, which will net the winner a hefty £20,000 prize. In our previous story we announced the full fifty-strong longlist, which was compiled by 100 journalists, retailers, festival organisers and DJs, including the Quietus. Now the award shortlist has been announced, which has whittled the original set down to an altogether more manageable ten.

The shortlist runs as follows, and features some tasty morsels - here at tQ HQ, we're particularly fond of Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat's joint effort, Mogwai's Hardcore Will Never Die and the total caffeine meltdown of Rustie's Glass Swords.

Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat - Everything’s Getting Older
Conquering Animal Sound - Kammerspiel
Happy Particles - Under Sleeping Waves
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine
Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
Mungo’s Hi Fi - Forward Ever
Remember Remember - The Quickening
Rustie - Glass Swords
Tommy Smith - Karma
Twin Atlantic - Free

The SAY app and website will continue to stream albums from the list until the awards ceremony on June 19th, and in the interim period they're also planning to arrange a series of instore performances by both longlisted and shortlisted bands in shops across Scotland. The site will be updated with more information as they're organised. Click here for more information.
